Highland MSP launches Christmas card competition

An MSP is inviting young people across the Highlands to design a festive Christmas card for her constituency.

Kate Forbes MSP has written to primary schools across Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch inviting them to participate in the competition with the short brief of an A5 drawing on the theme of Highland winter.

The winning design will feature on the MSP’s official constituency Christmas card, and some of the ‘runner-up’ designs will be displayed in the window of the constituency office on Dingwall’s High Street.

Christmas card

Kate Forbes, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, said: “Christmas may seem a long way off, but as we head into November we’re already seeing the first signs of a Highland winter.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be launching my festive card competition.

“I have already visited several schools in the Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch constituency and I never fail to be encouraged by our young people.

“Over the course of the next five years, I want to engage more children and teenagers so that they grow up feeling like their elected member is accessible and they want to participate in democracy.

“I’m looking forward getting my art-critic glasses on – and I’m sure the entries will be a great feature for my constituency office in Dingwall.”

If any Primary age pupils wish to take part, entries can be submitted by snail mail to the constituency office at 12 High Street, Dingwall, IV15 9RU or scanned and emailed to kate.forbes.msp@parliament.scot
