Kate Forbes MSP calls for Black Isle road safety summit

The constituency MSP for the Black Isle has called for a road safety summit with representatives of the local community and Transport Scotland following the recent tragedy at the Munlochy junction on the A9.

Kate Forbes MSP is seeking to bring together local councillors, representation from every community council on the Black Isle as well as senior officials from Transport Scotland – with a particular focus on the junction that leads onto the B9161.

Describing it as a “notorious junction”, the Black Isle MSP wants to urgently see further road safety measures considered – and it is a matter she has continued to raise since her election back in 2016.

Kate Forbes MSP said: “I think it is time for all community representatives on the Black Isle to meet and discuss road safety. There have been far too many accidents in recent months and years.

“I have previously been in touch with Transport Scotland over a period of months, raising issues but I think that it would be good to have a wide-ranging discussion on all aspects of this.

“I have written to every community council inviting them, alongside our hard working councillors.”
