Kate Forbes MSP has welcomed the appointment of John Sturrock QC – who will lead the independent review into allegations of a bullying culture at NHS Highland.
The independent review will provide an opportunity for current and former staff who have raised concerns to discuss these with an independent and impartial third party.
It is understood that findings will be reported back to the Scottish Government in early 2019 so that any next steps can be decided upon.
Kate Forbes, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, said: “John Sturrock is a well-respected figure, who will be able to lead the independent investigation with rigour and impartiality.
“I hope that anybody in Skye and Lochalsh who has been affected by bullying or harrassment feels able to tell their story and see any allegations properly investigated.
“The last two years have been particularly difficult for NHS Highland staff on Skye, with a lot of pressure.
“It is important that nobody feels threatened or uncomfortable at work, and this investigation will, I hope, get to the bottom of any issues.
“The Cabinet Secretary has confirmed that she expects interim recommendations in early 2019 but I think it is important that this is investigated thoroughly.”
